Honoring the strength it takes to rise after hardship.
The light Rises Scholarship Program for Lewis County BOCES high school seniors who’ve faced adversity... and chosen hope anyway. Created by local author Trish Michael, this annual scholarship celebrates resilience, strength of heart, and the courage to share your light.
Because resilience deserves to be celebrated.
So many young people are growing up in the shadow of pain... navigating trauma, loss and instability... yet they're still showing up, still working hard, still doing their best.
The light RISES Scholarship was created for them… for the ones who’ve faced darkness and still found a way to shine.
This program honors students who embody the same lessons shared in my books, which were all inspired by my own kids:
✨ Resilience
✨ Self-empowerment
✨ Hope beyond hardship
Each year, two high school seniors are awarded:
- $500 scholarship toward higher education or personal growth
- Signed collection of trish MICHAEL’s empowering books
- Private mentorship session with Trish Michael
- Featured story shared on trishmichael.com and social media... inspiring others to keep rising

A Message From Trish
“When my son graduated from BOCES in 2025, I saw him and so many kids other kids I knew, graduating this program despite having experienced major hardships.
It inspired me so much.
This scholarship program is for them… for the next generation of healers, creators, and changemakers. The one's who are lighting the way for others to make the best of their situation, despite the hand they've been dealt."
